1). This website taught me that ancestors can look completely different, but still be related.
2). This website taught me that scientist compared Lucy's bones to humans to determine how they walked, how they looked, and how they are all related. Also that 'Lucy' lived 3.6 million years ago.
3).The adaptive radiation in finches are when they migrated from South America, they each went to a different section of the islands and adapted to the new environment, creating variations in the species.
4). Cool song!
5). I scored 40 on the game.

7). No one has blogged yet so I can't comment...
1. The site showed me thhat even though animals may seem completely different, most of them are related by similar features that they have. I learned thata a Wolf and a Dolphin are more related than a shak and a dolphin.
2. This website taught me about the remains of our early human ancestors and taught how they moved, what they looked like, if they were all in the same place, and when they lived.
3. Finches were blown by a storm to several offshore islands, they weren't exactly suited for, the birds that are well adapted to their new homes passed on their genes while the others died.
4. That was a nice song Mrs. Snow.
5. I played the game as a bear and my score was 14 points.
6. I couldn't get a video so I got an artical.http://www.factmonster.com/homework/classificationfaq.html

1. I thought that this website was very interesting especially classifying the different animals. I found it very surprising when it said that dolphins and wolves are similar and that raccoons and bears are similar. It really made sense to me that scientists really have to study and evaluate all of the possible traits to determine what is similar to what because appearances can be deceiving.
2. I found that the riddle of bones was quite interesting as well. It was amazing to see that these skeletons like “Lucy” and “First Family” were so similar to the human skeleton in many ways. The bones were about the same size, the teeth layout was about the same as humans, evidence suggests that they walked on two feet, and the feet, toe, back and arm bones also all had similar features to the modern day humans. I also found it surprising that how similar these skeletons are, they lived as far back as 3 million years ago.
3. The adaptive radiation of Darwin’s finches occurred just after the hurricane hit. After the hurricane, all of the finches began to diverse and form into different species because of their adaptation to their environment.
4. I also enjoyed these songs very much. It was very, very catchy, and made the seven levels of classification get stuck in my head.
5. I got 8 points on the Bear, 9 points on the Orchid, and 8 points on the Sea Cucumber which totals in 25 points. I thought this activity was both fun and informational that helped me classify these organisms into the seven levels.

1:Learned that all animals are part of one big family and that you should not categorize animals based solely upon appearance.
2:Learned that we share many common characteristics with the first primates that have been found. Also, these animals may have had smaller brains that were not as advanced as we are today.
3:Learned that finches evolved over time into different sub-species that are noticeable un-similar, but molelcularly similar. They have evolved due to environmental factors that have forced relocation.
4:DONE!!
5: Score of 29.

2) the 2nd site tells you interesting facts about our first ancestors which lived around 3.5 million years ago.
3) Darwin says that the finches had to evolve in which made them have to adapt to their new surrounding.
4) We group animals and plants because it make them easier to study.
5) The game was cool, I got all 21 points and learned that each type or organism has a different kingdoms they belong to.

2. The website riddle on the bones explains the bones of Lucy the afarensis and how fossils can help scientists learn more about ancient animals through its bones.
3. The website on origin of spieces taught me about Darwins finches and how they adapt to thier enviornment after a hurrican hits.
4.nice song ;) haha
5.I got 43
6.https://sites.google.com/a/teacher.plymouth.../classification-song
7. I enjoyed Tyler h. classification song it showed me many example of classificaiton.
1) I learned all animals likely descended from a single sommon ancestor.
2)I learned the similarities of the different species in the world, and just how close primates and humans are.

7.Wasnt able to watch any of the videos..
1. The tree of life shows how closely related different speices are.
2. "Lucy" likely walked on two legs but looked more like an ape and only had a chimp sized brained.
3. Different finches travelled to different islands and adapted to better survive in that habitat.
5. 29
6.YouTubewww.youtube.com/watch?v=kKwOlAqQoLk
7. Hannah's article did a good job over explaining classification in simple terms.
1) The Website Taught me just because things look like they would be or they live in the same place they're not always similar.
2) Lucy most likely walked on two legs but resembled more of an ape like creature with a chimp sized brain.
3) Darwin stated thein order for the finches to survive they would have to adapt to their enviornment AKA radiation.
4) I couldnt listen to the song :-(
5)I played the game i got a 34

6.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSkCswOwn9M
1) Website one taught me that just because a certain species looks different doesn't mean that they aren't from the same mammal.
2) It shows how our ancestors were once found and that they lived up to 3.2 or more million years ago. It also has a little bit of proof that the bones in that website could be all from the same type of species.
3) Something I learned is that finches can evolve into other sub-species. This website taught me that they have evolved due to environmental factors that forced relocation, so they had to move.
4)The song was okay! Not something I would choose to listen too.
5)The game I played was totally rad, I got 19 points and learned that every organism out there has its own environment that it belongs too.

7) I liked Natalies youtube, I feel like I learned a little more about classification.
1. it was very interesting to me because i didn't know that we were closely related to the tunicate i didn't have any idea. i would figure that we were more related to the sponge.
2.i liked this site and how they discussed what people looked like 3.2 million years ago and how we were related. I thought that lucy the 40% complete skeleton discovered in 1974 was very cool.
3.it said that finches had evolved over time and adapted to its surroundings.

Carly Bouchard P.3
1) From the first website I learned that even though two species may look alike, does not mean that they are similar, and that looks can fool you.
2) I learned that we can tell how something walks by the shape of their bones. As they said that Lucy looked like she walked upright on her two legs, they figured this out from her pelvis.
3) I read that when the big hurricane hit that the adaptive radiation of the finches occurred.
4) Catchy song, haha!

ADIANA LABORIN P.6
1. The website taught me that a Racoon and a Bear are both placental mammals. It was actually pretty fun to figure out which two animals were similar. I found it helpful to me.
2. This website taught me how bones work and how long they live. It was also stated that most bones found have similar jaws, teeth, and braincases, which I didn't know.
3. The third website showed how the finches had to adapt to their new environments in order to survive for a long time. I also learned more about evoultion.

6)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYL_8gv7RiE
7)Aileen M.'s video it really helped me understand classification.
1. The website showed me that animals are not always related even if they look like it. Mammals don't always look alike.
2. I learned that many bones are similar to their ancestors. A skull has similar fragments to Lucy's.
3. When a hurricane hit their home, the birds had to fly to another island and learn to adapt to the conditions there.

Mattie Villegas Per.1
1.This website taught me that although two species may look alike, they might not be as closely related as you may think. They could be related to a totally different animal you would least expect.
2.This website showed me how a variety of bones today are still very similar to our ancestors bones and bone structure from 3.5 million years ago!
3.This website showed me how when The hurricane hit, how adaptive radiation occurred from the finches, and also how the finches moved from island to island trying to adapt to that environment.
4.Lol, I thought it was pretty helpful, and catchy!
5.My total score was a 30
6.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLncN-VBgxU
7.I liked Tyler H's video because it it was descriptive and taught me more about classification.
1. This website is weird, in a good way. It showed how everything is basically tied together. For example, humans share a common ancestor with a tunicate!
2. This website really made me feel as if I was right there in front of the bones; the graphics were great. If Lucy is an example of an earlier human, then it shows how much we have evolved.
3. Since nature brought the finches to a different enviroment, they all adapted to survive in their new homes. Different enviroment=different adaptations=different species, or subspecies. Then of course they interbreed, which adds to the adaptive radiation.
4. I like it too! However, i refuse to let it get stuck in my head.
5. I got a 38 as my final score.

1) I learned that even though you don't look like your ancestor or your ancestor doesn't look like you, it doesn't mean you're related.
2) I have learned of Lucy before, but there was so much I didn't know of her. If she was an example of early life, then we have evolved a lot from that time.
3) The Finches adapted to their new surrounding due to how they evolved and also because of their surroundings.

1. This website helped me understand that even though every organism is different, there are physical qualities that link all life to a common ancestor.
2. This website showed me how scientists believe our early human ancestors most likely moved, lived, communicated, and looked, and also how the species evolved into today.
3. After the hurricane, the radiation which occurred as all finches to branch off and form different species as an adaptation to the environment.
4. The song was both resourceful and also a tad catchy.

7. Bryan Ayala's video was easy to understand.
1) What I learned in this first site was that dolphins and wolves mostly are alike because of the structures in their limbs, jaws, and cranium. Also that sharks dolphins and wolves are all descendants of some kind of lamprey-like organism.
2) What I learned on this second site was that Lucy, who lived 200,000 years after the Hadar Skull, had a more v-shaped jaw. I also learned that the footprints from 3.6 million years ago are much like the footprints of today.
3) The adaptive radiation in the finches were that some of the pollenpeepers had stayed on their native islands that they were blown to, but after awhile they had changed enough to go to other islands. Then newer finches came and adapted to those different islands.
4) That was a nice song on classification. I now believe that if I listen to the original song "Animal" by Neon Trees i will think of classification more(;
5) My score was 35, even though i didn't score the perfect score, i finally got the concept of how things are classified.

1. This website was interesting. I liked the visuals and the explanations about how organisms can have different characteristics and features, but they may share a common ancestor.
2. From this website I learned of a human-like species that existed over 3 million years ago called A. afarensis. Evidence in the form of a preserved skeleton supports that this species could be an ancestor of the human race.
3. Due to a natural disaster, the birds were transported to a new environment. In a new environment the birds were forced to adapt to survive, creating different characteristics and subspecies within the original species.
4. My score was 26.
