1. We need to use loss minerals to save energy. We also need to limit trade for minerals because the planet doesn’t everyone have enough for everyone.
2. We need to use less Oil and Coal to save the planet.90% of coal now in 2070 well be used mostly for electric along with solar power and wind power.
3. Biodiversity is IMPORTANT for living on earth. We know that we’re killing the forests in just 2centuries.
4. The climate changing effects the amount of food produced and how much it costs. What he is saying is that in 2050 the prices of food well go up from what they are today.
5. The glaciers are melting faster than they did in 2005 so for this reason we need to cut down on fossil fuels and coal. The more the glaciers melt the higher the ocean well rise because they run into rivers which all run into a sea or the ocean.

1.)The first video was about renewable energy sources. Also how to determine the different types.

2.)The second video he talks about the different types of non-renewable energy sources. Some examples are fossil fuel like oil natural gas, coal, and nuclear energy.

3.)The third video talks about how non-renewable energy sources are limited. Using clean energy sources can save money, energy, and stop polluting the air.

4.)The last video is about how the world's resources are decreasing. Also how they will be in the near future.

1) The first video was about how the globe contained about 1.6 billion tons of copper resources- both known and unknown. Also that there are limited minerals in certain areas.

2) The second video was about peek oil production and how it will rise and then fall. And about Hubberts prediction on how the us oil production would rise in 1970 and he was right.

3) The third video was about how biodiversity helps maintain all life on earth. Without biodiversity we wouldn't have any air to breath.

4) The fourth video was about how climate causes agricultural problems around the world. and how their was a big spike in the 21st century on food prices.

5) The fifth video was about water, and how glaciers are enormous reservoirs for water. And how glaciers give off water in the warm season.

6) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_otglflQw4

7) Rachel L's game was fun. It asked me if the vocab word they gave me was a renewable resource or not.

1. The first viedo talks about how we got to use less minerals. Need to limit minerals for the world because there isnt enough for the whole world.

2. The secind viedo talks about how we need to cut down on coal to save the planet. If they run out they would replace it with electricity.

3. The thrid viedo talks about that biodiversity is important for the earth and the living things. There trying to stop biodivertation, and forestation.

4. The fourth viedo talks about climate change, and how it pushes to the earth. Climate changes the production.

5. The fifth viedo talks about glaciers, and that the more they melt tje more they flow into the ocean and rises it up. The wind helps with the climate to change by blowing it a different way.

1. The first video is talking about the earth’s minerals. It says how we get a lot of the minerals that are not fuel from recycling.
2. The second video is talking about our fossil fuels. It says how we peaked and that we are now still declining
3. The third video is talking about biodiversity. It tell how helpful the trees are and how without them our entire planet would be out of whack.
4. The forth video talks about climate change. It tells us how it will affect food and food prices. It tells about their predictions on what places will suffer the worst and other not so.
5. The fifth and final video tells us about our water supply/glaciers. Many of the glaciers are river sources and if we don’t have them then we will have less water during the summer because it will mostly run into the ocean during the winter.

A) The first video was about how all energy has a source.I learned about renewable energy which can be used again and again, i also learned about Geothermal power and that biomass refers to energy comes from natural materials.
B) The next video is about what non-renewable energy and how it cannot be used over and over again. non-renewable energy are fossil fuels, natural gas, coal, and nuclear energy.
C)The third video talks gives us a warning that once we run out of non-renewable energy they are gone. Taking care of our environment and saving these energys when possible will help make them last.
D)the last video talks about how much of our non-renewable energy is left. And if we don't take care of them there will be very little to none left in the future

1) well in the firsted website is just saying how the energy source used in our time because its mostly about the sun give heat. also that oil, coal, wind, water and natural gas are also exmaples of sources of energy.

2)the 2 website it completely the same as the firsted website but this one is the non-renewable. and anaimal body get brayed and there body truns into fossoil in milloin years.

3)on the third website its conserving energy, so when that non-renewable fuels, polluants are released into the air polluting the air we breathe. also we use the energy sources that are clean and efficient, like wind and solar energy to produce electricity, we do not pollute the air making the environment cleaner for everyone.

4)in the how much is left? in 2560 its where the lithium is an essentail compent of the batteries in electric cars, many industry analysts have worried pulicly that supplies won't keep up with growing demand for the metal. still, known lithium reserves are big enough to keep us supplied for more then five centuries, even ignoring the vast supply of lithium in seawater.

A. Renewable Energy
-Renewable energy sources can be used multiple times without running out. Wind, oil, coal, etc. are all sources of energy, but the sun is the most important.

B. Non-renewable Energy
-Non-renewable energy can't be stocked up in a short period of time. Oil, coal, and natural gas are formed when a plant or animal dies and over a coarse of a million years-being buried- breaks down its remains until they are able to be used as fossil fuels.

C. Conserving Energy
-Using non-renewable energy sources pollutes the air, whereas renewable energy(wind and solar energy)is cleaner and more efficient and does not pollute the air. Conserving energy helps the environment and saves money.

D. How much is left?
-Dan Elderstein explains how recycling is a key component in retrieving minerals and about 20 mineral from 3 or fewer countries are left exceeding 75% of the production levels. David Rutledge expresses how solar electricity is growing, about 40% per year. Andrew Mitchell believes 40% of all life is located at the top of rainforest trees and without biodiversity there would be no life. Climate change threatens agricultural production, according to Gerald Nelson, and food prices are increasing. Christopher Milly explains how snow packs are important for agricultural production because they melt during spring and summer, feeding rivers that flow down into valleys, watering the plants.

1. The First Video was saying that they think were using 3-4 billion tons of copper today. 85% of lead is used by recyled materials. Recycling is very important. They predict that by 15-20 years, we wil be mining heavy mineral sand of the alantic ocean.
2. This talks about the peak oil. They determine it will rise and then later fall.
3. This video talks about Biodivirsity. They say we have less then half of a percent of Co2 in todays world. The Rate of extiention today is somewhere between 100 and 1,000 times faster than before. He says that humans are causing extention, becuase were invading natural land, by our population growth. RED- goverment gave 4 billion to stop deforestation.
4. Talks about the problems in the 21st century compared to the 20th. They talk about the food. They say prices for wheat, rice etc. in the 20th century are not as expensive as in the 21st.This is because the heat is getting stronger, its getting hotter.
5. This talks about the water. The warming of the glaciers cause more water in unexpected areas in the future, and less in other parts of the world, compared to now.

1. The first video explained how important recycling is. Many non-fuel minerals are recycled to be helpful resources.
2. The second video identified that there is not as much mine-able coal. The video also talked about the rise and fall of peak oil.
3. The third video talked about biodiversity and that the loss of biodiversity and deforestation should be stopped. The video also noted that the modern extinction rate grows faster than before.
4. The fourth video talked about the effect climate has on agriculture. The pressure from the climate reduces the productivity and production of agriculture.
5. The fifth video explained that glaciers are melting which affects several nearby locations. The melted glaciers cause water to runoff and affect surrounding places.

Vid. #2: Between 1870 to 1920, Coal production was very excellent and had large amounts of them. By the year 2070, coal will be used up at about 30 percent.

Vid. #3: The earth contains 95 percent of CO2 in the atmosphere. The video in this section talks about different types of life extinction that causes it to happen.

Vid. #4: throughout the future, all of the commodities (food) could reduce. People can collect data on how to calculate the food we use in the near future.

1)a. the video about mining has shown me how humans are rapidly lowing through all our natural minerals. although most metals are widely recycled it is still taking drastic measures by mining so much.
b. the video about drilling oils was also a bit eye opening. it showed me how quickly humans can burn away materials we can never get back and not care to much about it.
c. the video that depicts the events happening to rain forests is another example of how humans arent very curious to ways of saving the trees. although some governments are working on stopping deforestation immediately i dont know if that will be enough to control deforestation.
d. the video of crops was pretty astonishing to me. i didnt know how bad earth as getting or agricultural resources to the point that so many millions of children will be badly malnourished by the year 2050.
e. i thought that it was very informational that the water video told about how that glaciers, mountains, and other ice forms help so much to deliver snow to each water source. these places are needed for crops but it may come at a price since the availability of these water sources are thinning out to the point that they may be gone sooner then expected.

Video one is about the use and production of Earth's minerals. Minerlas such as copper and gold are able to be recycled.

Video two discusses the overuse of available fossil fuels. The usage of coal for electricity is expected to drop due to over-mining and other methods will need to be used for obtaining energy, such as wind power.

Video three is about biodiversity. The rapid rate of deforestation may result in a change of precipitation globally.

Video four focuses on the subject of food. Prices for food are expected to go up as production of food is slowing due to climate changes or inefficiency in irrigation.

Video five is about water and how much there is to use. Glaciers are a major supplier of water(when they are in the process of melting)to many parts of the world, but once they have melted completely, there isn't that major source of water anymore.

Website 1: Renewable energy sources can be used multiple times without running out. Wind, oil, coal, etc. are all sources of energy, but the sun is the most important.

Website 2:The second video is talking about oil and coal production.By 2070 half of the electricity used by fossil fuels will be replaced.

Website 3:They predict that by 15-20 years, we wil be mining heavy mineral sand of the alantic ocean. Also natural resources are shrinking due to technology and overuse.

Website 4:The fourth video talk about all the climate change and how it pushes the earth. It was also talking about how food prices were getting higher in the 21 century.

1. Minerals: Recycling is very good for recieving minerals, such as lead. Technology has a large influence in mineral supply and demand- they're already tough enough to find without having to rely on technology.
Fossil Fuels: Production of coal has fell since 1840(obviously). Coal is hard to mine and by 2070, we might need to find new ways for electricity use, such as solar energy.
Biodiversity: Biodiversity is vital to maintaining life on Earth. Extinction is much faster now, along with the quicker time period, too. Rainforests are very important to us-life, Earth- and deforestation is a huge issue and needs to be stopped.
Food: Climate change is bad for agricultural; growth and productivity are increasing in speed. That being said, malnourished children are becoming more common because of the incease in productivity.
Water: Climate chane is causing glaciers to melt, which isn't that good consdiering too much water is being released. Sooner or later, there will be little water for the summer months due to lack of run-off water and precipitation.

3. Monica's article about glaciers melting was rather interesting. I felt it had a lot of information and it expressed it through a fun, non-boring, way. I enjoyed reading it.

1. a. The mining video talks about how we use a lot of metals in our lives and as technology grows our use of metals rapidly grow. It also talks about how a majority of metals we use are recycled.

b.By 2070 90% of the coal that can be produced will be produced. We should gradually switch to other more substainable forms of energy before we run out of coal.

c. We are in the sixth extinction period and humans are causing extinction at a rate much much faster than past eras. Governments are spending money to help stop biodiversity extinction.

d. The video talks about how climate change effects the productivity of crops. It also says that one of the best ways to prevent these changes is to collect data on them.

e. If glaciers keep melting at the rate that they are there will be more run-off in the future than normal. this will lead too some areas beimg wetter and others dryer.

How Much Is Left?

Minerals:
1. Copper, gold, and silver are infinite resources. There are a few minerals that exceed about 75%. About 30 years ago the discovery of Magnesium in oceans sparked a big interest.

Coal and oil
2. Hubbert's Paper made a prediction that USR production would peak around 1970. Britain was the largest producer of coal in the 1800's.

Biodiversity
3. Without biodiversity, we wouldn't be able to breath. The rainforests produce large amounts of water that is evaporated into the atmosphere and cools the earths surface.

Climate Change and Agriculture
4. Climate change is a threaten multiplier. There are three types of agricultural productivity: classical biomass productivity, the investments in rural roads, and lastly, irrigation expansion.

Water
5. Glaciers respond to warning over long periods of time. when precipitation shifts, some places receive water and others don't.

Kee'on'na's game was fun I learned that lithium will not sink in a container of water and that lithium's atomic number is 3.

*Minerals
metal should be recycled. we eventually will run short of these metals and will have to look for them on the ocean floor with the sand.

*Fossil Fuels
there isn't enough fossil fuels, and we are going to eventually reach peak oil.

*Biodiversity
trees and plants are being cut down and there basic necessity to life.

*Food
due to global warming food isn't producing as much as it use to.

*Water
Glaciers are melting causing too much water for certain areas.

Krystal B. from 1st hours music video had good information, though i didn't care for the choice of music that you-tuber used to supply his information.

1.The first video is pretty much explaining that recycling is important and that tons of non-fuel minerals can be recycled to be helpful resources.
2.The second video pointed out/showed that there's not much mine able cole, and that it talked bout the ups and downs of peak oil.
3. The 3rd video pointed out that the modern extinction rate has grown faster than before and loss of deforestation and biodiversity should be put to an end.
4. The 4th video talked about costs of food (example: wheat and rice) and that when weather is affecting the crops its a uproar in the prices.
5. The 5th video talked about glacies and how they contribute to produce water supply and the climate change.

1. The first video talks about different minerals such as copper, silver, and cold, and how important they are. It stresses the importance of recycling and what recycling can do for the planet if everyone just recycled a little bit more of these rare minerals each year.
2. The second video talked about non-renewable energy such as water, oil, and coal. The video made predictions of the rise and fall of peak oil and how year by year, there will be limited coal to mine and other non-renewable resources to use.
3. The third video talks about biodiversity and how much it affects the environment by providing us with oxygen to breathe, crops to eat, and lumber from trees. This video warns us that biodiversity is decreasing as time goes on because of pollution, deforestation, and more human uses for land and forests.
4. The fourth video talks about how the climate affects so many things in this current time especially crop growth. It talks about how bad crops are affected by the climate and food is spiking in price which could lead to future disasters such as crop rations, crop price increases, and limited crops.
5. The fifth and final video talks about glaciers and the water produced by them. It explains that the hot temperature are causing the glaciers to melt faster than ever providing abundant amounts of fresh water sources, but is leading to many runoffs which could, in the future, be a big problem.
6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVskMh0Etcs – this video gave a great summary about what renewable/nonrenewable resources were all about. It gave great examples of each and talked about how much overuse of these could greatly affect the future.
7. I really liked Aubrie C’s (P1) video on energy sources. It really helped summarize everything we have been learning in class and everything we have learned in the blog so that I could understand it better.

1. The first video explains minerals such as copper aluminum gold and silver. It explains how much is left and where it can be found.
2. The second video is explaining fossil fuels and oil fields. It also explains the rise and fall of peak oil.
3. The third video explains biodiversity, billions of years ago the world was 95% CO2 and now it is less than a %. Without biodiversity it would be impossible to live and breath.
4. This video explains the rise and fall of food production based on climate. The climate is effecting generations ahead of us because of the decrease in production.
5. Many glaciers are slowly melting. This effect is creating more run off to certain areas of the earth but to others there is less. These changes are also creating other weather changes like dryness and more wind then usual.

1) The first video explained the importance of recycling throughout the world. Many non-fuel minerals are recycled to help limit waste.

2. The second video explained non-renewable energy and that there is not as much mine-able coal left. Non-renewable energy happens when animals die and natural gasses are created.

3. The third video talked about biodiversity and life's major dependence on it. For example, without biodiversity, their would be no air to breathe on Earth.

4. The fourth video talked about the climate change throughout the world. With climate change, crops will be at a disadvantage along with the consumers. If we don't have data on climate change, society needs to invest on climate data productivity trackers.

5. The fifth video explained that glaciers are enormous resivors of water. A large source of water in Asia is the Twebetin Plateau, an area of glaciers that continuously lets off water that created most of the rivers.

1. In Mining it talks a lot about recycling. Silver, Copper, and Gold are infinitely recyclable! mining on land is good enough now that we dont have to go to ocean mining any time soon which is good because it costs too much.

2. In Fossil fuels, they talk about oil and electricity. peakoil is where the amount rises and then drops, which it peaked at 1970 in the US. In 2070 fossil fuels will be short so wind electricity and solar will have to kick in which they already have. Wind and solar has grown rapidly at around 40%.

3. In Biodiversity they talk about how important it is. without biodiversity, there would be no oxygen and it is vital to maintain all life on earth because no oxygen means no life! biodiversity has also taken lots of CO2 out of the air almost all of it!

4. In Food they obviously talk about food. they say prices will go up in the 21st century and the poorest countries will have trouble with it. there is classical biological improvements in plant productivity, rural roads being bad so farmers can't take advantage of the plants they are growing, and irrigation expansion and irrigation improvements of efficiency. data is also important, if you dont have data than you cant address the problem.

5. In Water they talk about the melting and cycle of it. Glaciers provide a lot of water for agriculture and irrigation for billions of people! The Tibetan Plateau is lots of ice/glaciers that gain more snow/ice in the winter when it rains or snows and then melts in the summer and gives off lots of water to plants, agriculture, etc for southeast asia.

6. I enjoyed playing Lindas game about the energy hog because I actually learned something and it was kinda addicting and hard to stop playing.

1) Oil, coal, wind, water, and natural gases are all sources of energy. Biomass is solar energy that has been stored and can be converted into electricity.
2) There are also some sources that are non-renewable such as oil, natural gas, coal. These resources are non-renewable because they can't be stocked up in a short period of time.
3)Bio diesel will slow down the use of fossil fuels. When using energy from non-renewable fuels, it causes air pollution as we breathe it.
4) Blackouts usually mean that we are in tight levels of supply of energy. Food prices may go up do to population at some point.
